Toms River is a community located on the New Jersey coast, south of Brick Township. Until 2006, it was known as the “Township of Dover”, but was incorporated as the Township of Toms River.
It’s the 8th-most populous municipality in New Jersey, with more than 91,239 resident as of the most recent available estimates. It’s located on the coast, and home to some of New Jersey’s most famous seaside boardwalks and tourist destinations.
The city is crossed by several major New Jersey roads, including the Garden State Parkway, US Route 9, and Route 37.
Students in Toms River attend the Toms River Regional Schools, which is the largest suburban school district in all of New Jersey, serving more than 16,000 students across 18 different schools. Toms River schools are noted for having a great student:teacher ratio of 13.7:1.
